The Deep Kind of Pain
Come hear my story this Saturday.
There is a type of pain that is passing. We run into a few problems in our lives, but we resolve them in a month or 2 and we move on. Then there are those moments when we are t-boned in one of life’s foundational intersections. For my family, it all started with a diagnosis.
This is the deep kind of pain. The kind of pain that doesn’t resolve itself in a few weeks, months, or even years. It rewrites the landscapes of our lives and invites us to move into a new future. One which we could not have imagined and feels shot through with lament and sorrow.
My new book “No Elevator to Everest” is about this deep kind of pain. What do we do if we find ourselves there? How do we process the pain, invite healing, and move from being stuck to being joyful no matter the context? Is that even possible?
I found that it is. I found that joy can be full throated and full colored even in the darkest days.
